Anny Lency, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator,
created FortHealthSource and Healthy Employee in response to the nation's obesity epidemic. Anny found lifestyle modification and weight
management were the cruxes for improving many of the chronic illnesses she finds in her role as a clinical dietitian. Six years and 250 clients
after initiating these cost-effective and efficient programs, Anny believes she has created an important part of the solution to the nation's
serious healthcare problem. FortHealthSource is a means by which dietitians can systematically dispense the most current, accurate and credible
nutrition and health information available.
Anny represented the Mississippi Dietetic Association on Mississippi's Council
on Obesity Prevention and Treatment, where she also served as executive secretary.
A 1978 graduate from the University of Mississippi, Anny has dedicated much
of her career to lifestyle management. Anny has directed several weight management
programs as well as helped design and initiate St Andre Regional Medical
Center's Diabetes Education Program.
"Joining FortHealthSource was one of the best decisions I've ever made. This sensible program has given me useful information about
the importance of good nutrition and exercise, practical support to make needed changes and the support of a group of people to share my journey
to better health. The program is not about 'can't' and 'don't.' It's about 'can.' It's about hope. "I have lost nearly 35 pounds, kept
the weight off for almost two years, developed habits of eating well but wisely, and now exercise regularly. I now think of myself as a
person in control of her weight and her life."
